Austin Kemp’s team of experienced lawyers are experts in international divorce and the issues that go with it. There are a number of circumstances where you could find your divorce has an international element. For example, if you were married abroad or if either you or your spouse was not born in England or Wales, or even if you have a property abroad, you may be able to divorce in another country.
This can also be the case if you have lived most of your married lives together in another country.
Where in the world you divorce can significantly change what you can expect to receive in terms of finances and we would strongly recommend that you obtain specialist legal advice if you think there may be any kind of international element to your divorce.
It is also imperative to get legal advice as early as possible as it may work to your or your spouse’s advantage to be divorced in another country. Austin Kemp can also help if you are worried about child arrangements or abduction or if you aren’t sure whether your international divorce will be recognised in England and Wales.
