A decree absolute is the document from the court that brings your marriage to an end.

A Final Order is the document that legally ends your marriage. Under the current no-fault divorce process in England and Wales, once the Court has made a Conditional Order, there is then a mandatory waiting period of 6 weeks and 1 day before an application can be made for the Final Order. Once the Final Order is granted, the marriage is legally ended and both parties are free to remarry if they wish.
The process may be delayed or take longer than the minimum wait period, if there is a complex financial settlement, for example if you are a high net work individual with pension funds and investments spread out across the world.
Although a Final Order legally ends the marriage, it is important to seek legal advice before applying if financial matters are ongoing.
